We recently got back to Ashland from a conference in Las Vegas, NV. Vision Expo West is one of the largest vision and optical conferences in the United States and is held every year in the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas. I have been to many large conferences before, but mostly conferences that cater to optometrists and their office staff. This conference, however, also caters to opticians, large optical distributors and laboratories. It was very exciting to see so all the new and innovative products in the exhibit hall. Every time we get back from a conference, we are excited about the possibilities of services and technologies that we could incorporate into our practice to serve our community better. Our goal will forever be to continue to advance in our ability to care for the eye health and vision of our Ashland community. New technologies allow eye doctors to examine parts of the eye in better detail now than ever before, so we can provide the earliest detection of eye health issues that arise. Eye health problems such as ocular surface disease, diabetes, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, and so many more can be detected in earlier stages than ever before. It is a good time to be an eye doctor because we are fortunate enough to have the knowledge base and technology to save vision and preserve well-being. If you have any questions about my highlights of the conference, please don't hesitate to ask...unless you hate nerdy answers, haha.
